Face lift

No, not me. But since having kids almost 4 years ago, the lines are starting to show! I came up with a little saying:
Having kids doesn't age me, I'm just more responsible looking!
Never the less, I do love my 2 kids, they are my inspiration! So, onto the face lift! As you may or may not have noticed, the blog as a new title design! And with that came a new face lift for my facebook business page and my etsy shop. I had the an awesome business page on facebook design it all for me. You can find her on facebook: Grace Creative

A few months back, I tried my hand at making a miniature doll. I called her Ruby and gave her to a special little 2 year old girl for her birthday.

Then the other night, I decided to try a fairy. She went to my daughter's friend for her 5th birthday.

Since making these two, I have discovered a few tricks to making them, so hopefully will be able to try my hand at making a few more sometime and they will look even better!

If you would like to try your hand at one, patterns can be found at Ginger melon's shop on etsy.

Lullaby Mobiles turns One!

So today, 1 year ago, I took the leap of faith and started making mobiles! I look over the past year, my work, the blood, sweat and tears that have gone into my business and I would never thought I would be this far, so quickly!

It started out slowly, with the first few months wondering what would be ahead. I did so much research, tried to learn as much as I could and made as much as I could.

On the 3rd June I opened up my first online store on Etsy. I excitedly made my first sale on the 12 June 2011 to the United States which was the following mobile:

I remember when the sale came through, I was so excited that I ran around the house squealing with delight! I still get excited with every sales I make! From October, my sales picked up tremendously! It was rather overwhelming but exciting still the same! Christmas came and went and my thinking was that it was pretty just going to all die down.... boy was I wrong! Lets just say people thought about Valentines Day pretty much as soon as January started!

I am really excited about the future. My husband has been a wonderful support during this first year. It's a plus having a husband that is a life and business coach! He keeps me sane, on my toes and totally keeps me real! Love you babe!

So with all that,,I am excited to now announce the winner of the $40 voucher! Thank you to the 46 of you who entered to the comp.

Winner through Random.org is number 32!
And here is number 32:

Congratulations Melissa! Please email to claim your voucher!

Sweet Bird house nursery mobile

I attended my first craft market of the year on Wednesday night in Kingsland. It was the Anzac Kingsland Fraft market and the feel of the market and the people who had stalls and those that visited were so wonderful! I was right at the entrench, so caught everyone's attention as soon as they walked in! I wish I was able to make more stock, but what I had, did for the night. Here's a photo of my stall that I took with my camera:
With an upcoming market I get to make new stock! I love this part of it as I hardly ever get the chance to make all the ideas I get in my head! So the day before, I decided to make another bird mobile entirely from felt. Here are photos of the end result:

This special mobile is for sale as is for NZ$160 plus postage and is available as a custom order to match your nursery. Available to purchase in my Etsy shop now!

Nursery Inpsiration - 2012 Pantone colour of the year - Tangerine Tango

Color Trends to Fit Any Style
According to Pantone, Inc., considered by many to be the market leader and authority on all-things colour, everyone’s wild about 2012′s "Colour of the Year": Tangerine Tango. Pantone describes this year’s pick as, "sophisticated, dramatic and seductive . . . marrying the vivaciousness and adrenalin rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy."

I'm usually not a fan of orange, but I have found a few fantastic decor ideas with this tangerine orange as part of the colour decor. Here's some inspiration for your nursery:

Now I do love Etsy so here are some of my favourites that I think would look stunning in a nursery!

And finally, a product from my shop featuring this hot colour!

Enjoy creating your nursery!

Red & black Flutterby Mobile

Another one of my mobiles that I have a love/hate relationship with! I bought an express cutter to cut out the butterflies and the black card felt was easy to cut, but when I came to the red.... for whatever reason, it just wouldn't cut through no matter how many times I went over and over it! Most of the red butterfly parts I ended up cutting by hand. I like the end result though :)

There are 4 larger butterflies and 4 smaller ones all hanging by clear thread. The butterfly cut out's are made from glittered felt card so it holds it shape really well compared to standard felt which most people double up, stuff and stitch together.

This is part of my "Black, Red & White Collection"

Available for sale here: http://felt.co.nz/listing/52476/Black-and-Red-Flutterby-Mobile for NZ$34 + postage

Colourful Critter Mobile

This is such a fun mobile and sure to bring colour to any room and delight to any child!

Made with foam animals that I put together myself. There is a frog, tortoise, chameleon and snake. They are all very friendly looking and hanging from neon ribbed ribbon!

I'm yet to have this for sale as I'm currently working out the shipping costs.

Designer Paper Flower Mobile

The delicate paper flowers are black, red, white and silver in colour with a tear drop jewel at the bottom of each flower to reflect light.

It hangs on two strings rather than 4 and because of the weight distribution, the slightest air movement allows the mobile to gentle move and catch your baby's attention. The contrast of colour is great for newborn eyes.

I will also be making this in pink, purple and blue.

Available for sale here: http://felt.co.nz/listing/51872/Designer-Paper-Flower-Mobile at NZ$54 + postage

Hide & Seek Feather mobile

I have a love/hate relationship with this one!

I had an idea in my head what I wanted to do with the feathers but when I went about trying it out... it just wouldn't work so I had to come up with a completely different idea! Thankfully it worked! I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out but I was pleased with the outcome :)

This is for my Black, red and white collection. Great for a baby's room! The contrasting colours is great eye play!

Made with black and white feathers stuck into white foam decor balls and has red glittered card felt spots!

Only hanging on two strings instead of 4 as the slightest air movement creates a lovely sway effect.

Available for sale here: http://felt.co.nz/listing/52027/Hide-and-Seek-Feather-Mobile at NZ$37 + postage

Hibiscus Beauty Mobiles

I decided that this mobile along with the rose mobile, I would put them as a collection called the "Garden of Eden Collection"

This is a mobile is made with white shiny ribbon, white Hibiscus flowers with lush green leaves and a string of off white pearls to hang it with and a string of pearls down the middle.

For sale here: http://felt.co.nz/listing/52026/Hibiscis-Beauty-Mobile at NZ$58 + postage.

The Elegant Rose Mobile

My first mobile... and how proud am I!

Made from silk white and pink roses, silk ivy, clear crystal tear drop jewels and a heart shaped mirror in the centre with sliver beads and ribbon. This took me about 4 hours to make and an extra hand, thanks to my hubby!

For sale here:http://felt.co.nz/listing/52025/Elegant-Rose-Mobile at NZ$65 + postage.
